Ingredients
– 1-2 packets dry active yeast
– 250 ml milk, warm
– 250 grams butter (softened) OR 1/2 cup vegetable oil
– 1 egg
– Flour
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in the warm milk
- Combine all ingredients
- Knead into a homogenous dough
- Chill in refrigerator for at least 40 minutes before using
Babushka’s Notes
- This can be used for vatrushka, cabbage pie and apple pie.
- For vatrushka, cut the recipe in half

- For best results, allow the dough to proof on the counter before refrigerating to allow the yeast to do their thing
